Notes: The long-awaited finale to the Hana Yori Dango series.
The director's cut version has about 20 or so odd minutes of additional footage and dialogue. Most of it does not add to the storyline much.
Musical arrangements are different in this version too.
It's out!
I hope you enjoy this!
Out on irc, ddl, and torrent.MAIN DIFFERENCES BETWEEN THEATRICAL RELEASE AND DIRECTOR'S CUT VERSION:(Notes from amrayu):
There's roughly 33 minutes worth of new content. If you subtract the ending credits it's probably 20ish minutes of new content.
Some main differences that I'm noting (there's additional dialogue that was minor that I'm leaving out):
Ending music and music during the wedding are switched. For me, this sorta changed the mood of the movie towards the end.
Director's cut:
During Yuuki's TV interview, she has a few more lines.
From 12:30 to 16:30: An entire scene with Sakurako, Makino, Yuuki and Okami-san at the Dango shop. This scene makes Sakurako loveable.
From 30:18 to 31:19: A scene between Makino and Doumyouji discussing the tiara right after they leave Hotel Volver on the streets.
From 43:20 to 44:02: A cute scene between Makino and Doumyouji fighting over the burgers in America.
From 1:09:30 to 1:10:13: Some new dialogue between F4 and Makino on the airplane.
From 1:16:XX to 1:17:XX: Akira busts out some Cantonese here after the auction. I thought it was pretty cool.
From 1:29:XX to 1:31:XX: Roughly 13 new lines of dialogue. 1st is F4 minus Doumyouji talking in the hotel room. 2nd a conversation between Makino and Kaburagi. 3rd Doumyouji leaving a voice message for Makino (I thought this was hilarious).
From 2:09:27.04 to 2:12:20.81: A pretty heart-warming scene between Makino and Doumyouji on the deserted island. I think it was my favorite out of the whole movie.
From 2:39:45.43 to 2:42:50.79: The ending scene is the one from Episode 9, season 1 where Makino chases after the airplane. This is shot in a different way from season 1. Dialogue remains the same from that episode. Different ending song.
Overall, for some scenes you get a different mood from it. If you're a fan of HYD, I'd recommend downloading the Director's Cut. If you're not a super fan, don't bother.
